Water-proof face painting by Pixie Dust Creations I’m feeling so grateful for my place in life. My children and husband are truly the best I could ever ask for. They love me despite…me.  😉 My face painting business is mine and I love it.  While I love getting out and meeting new people, painting has always been quite therapeutic for me.  So when I discovered face painting, it felt like the perfect “recipe” for me.  Sure it can be bit trying on occasion (as with anything), but I am blessed with the best of clients, doing something I love, and the joy of making people smile.  I get to be a fun part to anything from birthday parties, company picnics, restaurants, and fundraisers to local community events focused on just doing something special for the children.  It’s amazing and fulfilling!

This weekend I had the pleasure to face paint for some wonderful repeat clients. One event was for a local community specifically organized for the children.  They had all kinds of games, raffles, police officers & fire fighters teaching safety and just engaging with the children, an inflatable water slide, and me providing water-proof face painting.  It was a well organized and fun event just for the kids of the community.  Despite an unexpected rain shower, the festivities continued and it was a great time had by all.  And lets face it, most kids love to play in the rain!  I still do.  🙂 At the end, the coordinator paid me some very kind compliments about my artistry & service, and proceeded to tell me that she prefers my service over others she had experienced in the past.  And while I don’t think I’m “all that” and felt rather slow working with the water-proof paints, her wonderful compliments, praise and later sharing my name on her Facebook posts just made me feel overjoyed and grateful.  Building a small business is no easy job, nor is stepping outside ones comfort zone.  She pushed me (if she knew it or not) to get out of my comfort zone by requesting water-proof face paints. I haven’t used them in a long time nor have I ever been very happy with how they looked…or how I painted with them at least.  Well after practicing with them a bit and having that light bulb switch “on” in my head, it all worked out and overall, I was pretty happy with the results. I can definitely use more practice, but I’m comfortable enough to offer them as a service and believe people will be happy. It was wonderful to watch the children enjoy their designs throughout their water adventures (and rain) and avoid “meltdowns” because their design was ruined.  This same client has already informed me of another upcoming event and what she wants to do…and it too is another push out of my comfort zone, but I’m excited to make it happen for her (and myself)!! Thank you Marsi for being such an inspiration in so many ways! You’re an amazing & beautiful person!

My other client has had me provide face painting and glitter tattoos for his company picnic for 3 years now.  He, his family and his employees are all just such a delight to engage with.  I have face painted many of the same faces and I love them all, young & young at heart! It’s one of the events I look forward to every year. They’re all wonderfully kind people and open to allowing me artistic freedom. How cool is that!?!? They always give me so much praise and inspire me on a professional level and in life, and I don’t even think they realize it. What a gift!  Their energy is always positive and I love to see that their employees are happy where they are, that they’re taken care of.  It’s coincides with some of my business goals.  I want to be that kind of company that takes great care of both their clients and their employees/representatives.

My apologies for rambling on and on.  I’m just so grateful to have such wonderful clients that not only appreciate my work & service, but push and inspire me to do more than just be an ordinary face painter.  I receive complements on my work all the time, but still always feel the need to do better, work harder, and to improve and expand on my craft and myself.  My clients and those around me deserve it, and it truly feels great to deliver a service that makes people happy.

I wish all of you happiness in your every day.  Don’t settle for less than what makes your heart full.  No matter how bad of a day, find the goodness and be grateful to have the day in the first place. Tomorrow is never guaranteed. Take a moment each day to inspire someone.  You never know how valuable some simple, positive words can be, or where it will lead them.  🙂
